A small rainbow

A rainbow of small BOV LWI BedBugs for Laura. I had a lot of fun with these. Probably 98% of my custom orders are for M/L diapers, so I really enjoyed making the smalls, they are so little and cute when they are finished!

I really love the look of LWI dyeing with a single color. How the colors vein and crackle. How with primaries you get just shades of that color, but how with secondaries you get some of the main color and some of the base colors coming out as well. I think the green may be my favorite, with the shades of green and the bit of light blue that came out.

Wonderful hand made mail week!

www.flickr.com

What a great hand made mail week it was here! first up, brand new custom undies from Christy at Fussybutt. Christy is absolutely amazing to work with. I needed a custom size and she adjusted her patterns for me to get a great fit. This is only one pair, I am wearing the other pair, same lime green but with a light pink lace. They are a perfect fit and I adore them!

Kate, the Tea Mistress of Tea Noir is one of my very favorite etsy sellers. Aside from being the sweetest, she makes the world's most amazing teas. the top pic is a new one for me, Cosmo, rooibos with orange, lime and cranberry. Second pic is my all time favorite, caramel apple, another rooibos (I don't do caffeine, so I love the rooibos!) with caramel, apple and cinnamon. The yummiest tea ever! Now, if I could only find my tea ball, I would be all set. Or if the laundry hurries up and finishes I can just go out and buy a new one. I am feeling the need for a cuppa caramel apple!

Next up, Mud Face facial mask from South Pacific Body on etsy. I haven't used a facial mask in years, but I saw this one while shopping for my swap partner for the bath and body swap on hyena cart and had to try it. I am loving it, definitely a keeper. And it has the added bonus of totally freaking out my kids when I put it on - they call me the Mud Monster and start screaming!

Lastly, my new favorite piece of jewelry, my Cumulo Nimbus - Icy White Sea Glass Filigree Necklace from Artistic Detour. I wore it yesterday and it is even more beautiful in person than in the picture. I am so happy to have Robin joining us on K&F now - of course, that means it will just be that much easier for me to feed my sea glass jewelry habit ...

Where have you been all my life??

Yesterday, I received my Bedside Caddy from Lucky Mama and I am in love! I have this habit of having far too many books in my bed. My headboard is a bookshelf, which right now houses some Webkinz, my planner and calender, my clock, the full collection of Harry Potter books in hardcover, all the Lord of the Rings books + The Hobbit (2 copies of that as a matter of fact), Story of the World, Horrible Histories: The Groovy Greeks, Greek Mythology, a bunch of Magic Treehouse books, a full collection of volumes of Nature's Children, classic Winnie the Pooh volumes, a Jack Prelutsky poetry book, and a nature crafts book ... then on TOP of those are the library books I am currently reading and a few magazine ... then usually in bed with me are a few pens, the notebooks I use to analyze every detail of my life in (yes, I really *am* that anal. Really.) ... This caddy is wonderful! My notebooks finally have a home, and the caddy I bought even has a place to stick my pens. Now I will not wake up with ink on my face from rolling onto a pen in my sleep.

(And yes, those are my bamboo velour sheets showing in the picture ... be very jealous!)

Another kind of artistry

I will admit it, I have an obsessive personality. I get an idea in my head, or something I want to learn about or do, and it becomes all-consuming. I have to read everything I can find on it, work on it for hours upon hours ... you should see the massive collection of cake pans in my kitchen from my cake decorating phase. It is truly awe-inspiring ;) Problem is, I just generally don't have time anymore to obsess about things anymore. Well, about a week ago, at some point, I became obsessed with Italian pastries. I have been reading for a week online all kinds of recipes and techniques and all that. I made some canolli filling last week; it was good but I couldn't find anything to use as a form to make the shells so it sat in my fridge for a week before I finally threw it out. i realized yesterday that I can wrap tin foil around a small spoon to make a form to make canolli shells, so I schlepped back to the store in 2 degree weather for more marscapone and ricotta. At the store, I found fillo (isn't is supposed to be spelled with a ph?? This one wasn't.) shells and decided to give those a try first. Made the *best* filling! Melted some dark chocolate and painted the bottom and sides of the cups with that, then piped in the canolli filling. Topped them with shaved dark chocolate and hazelnuts. Now, biting into one for the first time is kind of odd ... almost like eating a potato chip topped with canolli filling ... they are just a little too crispy, lol. But I cannot complain - they are pretty darn good. And they look pretty darn good too. Displayed in my gorgeous casserole from Red Hot Pottery , one of my all time favorite potters, and one of my all time favorite pieces of pottery.

Ooga Booga!!

The Ooga Booga print BedBug - I love this print! The little monster guys are just too cute. I think my kids need some summer weight PJs made from this fabric. Maybe I need some too ;) I was so happy this was reprinted so I could get my hands on some of it.

There are lots of custom slots on my HC right now for knit print BedBugs. I have 22 knit prints listed, including Ooga Booga (in white and natural, natural shown here with burgundy snaps).

Happy New Year!

Happy 2009 to everyone! I hope this year brings everyone health and happiness :)

I am playing a little catch up as we enter the new year. Between the holidays, exhaustion, a flood in the laundry room that kept me from dyeing (because I was afraid to open the washer, lol) for an extra week, and taking my very first weekend off since I have had Holden's Landing, I am working on playing catch up a little. I have 3 more diapers to get done and out and I will be all caught up - those will go out tomorrow (Cassie and Melanie - sorry for the delay!!). Anyone else with a custom or wholesale order (including those that are invoicing for today) - all those are dyed, cut and snapped and on the table to be worked on this weekend/early in the week. I am anticipating having all the customs on the table done by Friday next, and hopefully the wholesale order as well (6 down on that now!).

Must get back to sewing if I am going to catch up!!
