Freebies!

I love to collect freebies and samples to give out in packages. I did some really wonderful trades last week with some amazing artisans.

Top left - pail deodorizer samples from Scent-sory Creations, all in lavender scent.

Top right - assorted bookmarks from Becky's Paper Creations. My favorites are the ones with the Bluegrass Moon artwork. Beautiful! Becky also included two Webkinz themed bookmarks, one for each of my kids, but I have hidden those so I can gift them to the kids one of these days :)

Bottom left - mini cards from Sara's Scraps , using my logo. I love these! And my son Holden keeps trying to convince me that he can keep a pack and I can keep a pack. after all they DO have his name on them!

Bottom right - Also from Sara's Scraps , bookmarks also using my logo. I will have to steal one of these to keep my place in "The Hobbit", which I am currently reading for the first time.

Fairy Flight

This is my new favorite DreamScape. For a friend who wanted a fairy scene and gave me some ideas, but left the actual design up to me.

For Sarah

Another new DreamScape - Sarah wanted a woodland theme that seems to be popular lately!), but with a night time twist.

Front - a single owl flying in the stars

Back - another appliquéd tree with appliquéd grass. A full moon and some twinkling stars in the background (all the stars and some elements of the moon glow in he dark), a raccoon and a little owl in the tree, and a fox skulking around underneath on one side and a little hedgehog and mushroom on the other side

A Tri-Tone, also for Sarah. She asked for the colors of New England in the fall - my favorite time of year, and favorite place to spend it (of course, I am a New England girl myself, so I am partial). I went with a brick for the outer, coppery brown for the inner with flecks of orange, and a deep eggplant for the soaker

Starting to delve into appliqué

I decided recently that i wanted to start working with more freehand appliqué, in conjunction with my embroideries, for DreamScapes. I finished one up yesterday and sent it off this morning. Simple appliqué work on this one, a free hand tree, but it was a lot of fun. There are lots of little embroidered details that are hard to see in the photo - there are acorns and leaves scattered across the front around the squirrel and the rabbit, leaves falling from the tree on back, the black capped chickadee is sitting in a free hand machine stitched nest. It is also a "new" dye technique a combination of LWI (front 2/3)and dip dye (back 1/3). I will be doing a lot more work like this - I have another tree/woodland DreamScape in the works for another custom, as well as a fairy DreamScape with a moonlight scene and a tree branch stretching across the back of the diaper with the fairies sitting on it. I can't wait to get to those!

Photo Contest Time!

Thank you to everyone who sent in photos for our contest! I am putting my favorites below - please vote for your favorite! The winner will receive a free custom diaper.

The pictures are labeled with Mom's name; I didn't know the children's names in all the pictures.

You can vote for only one picture, and voting is open from now until July 10th at 11:59 pm est. I gave it a little extra time because I was late in getting the pictures up. I will contact the winner on 7/11. Good luck everyone!
